We provide to our clients and customers Spray Fireproofing, Intumescent Fireproofing, Firestopping, Spray Thermal / Acoustical Insulation and Hazardous Material Abatement services in the Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial sectors. Our mandate is to provide the highest quality service to our clients in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The capability to draw our resources from within The Group insures our clients receive the best service available.

Donalco Western is a licensed applicator for the full range of the manufacturers products. We employ qualified tradesmen trained in spray applications. We also employ Alberta OH&S certified workers for the safe removal of Asbestos, PCBs, Lead and Mould.

Donalco Western carries more than adequate insurance including Environmental Pollution insurance on an occurance basis. We can provide bonding as required.

Over the years we have successfully completed thousands of open shop and Union projects ranging from $1,000.00 to $5,000,000.00. Our commitment to working to the highest industry standards for our trade has ensured our longevity at completing projects both professionally and safely.

Services

 
 

 SPRAY APPLIED FIREPROOFING

Application of cementitious and fibrous fireproofing materials to buildings structure. Capable of providing a FRR rating of up to 4 hours dependent on design choice. Intended for the fire protection of interior structural members (metal decks, beams, joists, columns, walls, roofs, girders, floors and pre-cast concrete).


intumescent fireproofing

Application of thin film intumescent coating system designed for the fire protection of decorative structural steelwork at interior locations within buildings.  Capable of providing up to a 3 hour FRR ratings dependent on design choice. Used for detailed applications where elements of steel work are to be highlighted and visually exposed. 


FIRESTOPPING

Application of fire protection system designs made up of various components used to seal openings and joints within a fire rated floor or fire rated wall assembly. Designs are applied to maintain the continuous fire-resistance of wall or floor assembly, by preventing the spread of fire and smoke, sealing the openings for the required duration using fire-resistant materials.

ASBESTOS ABATEMENT

Asbestos is a known carcinogen used in construction until the early 80's. The safe removal and disposal of asbestos is provincially regulated and Donalco Western follows those regulations in developing industry leading best practices.

Donalco Western prides itself on the highest standards of quality when it comes to demolition and deconstruction of interior spaces and buildings. Utilizing waste diversion and recycling to reduce costs for clients and follows standards set by Green Globe and LEEDS. 

MoUld Remediation

Mould is ever present and evasively finds it's way into homes and work places. Donalco Western utilizes best practices for safe removal and treatment with minimual distrubrance.

Projects

 

ROGERS PlacE - Edmonton, AB

The new state of the art centre piece to Edmonton's Downtown core, and new home to the Edmonton Oilers.  Spray Applied Fireproofing was applied to protect structural steel in concealed and exposed areas.  The use of both low density and high density products were used throughout all floors.   Intumescent Fireproofing was the application chosen to protect structural steel highlighted within high exposure areas. The facility will host both professional entertainment and sporting events, and will serve as an iconic symbol within the city skyline .

Royal Alberta Museum - Edmonton, AB

Spray applied fireproofing was used to protect structural steel through out the building in multiple locations.  Intumescent fireproofing was applied within the gallery to exposed trusses.  Select structural columns around the building also received the intumescent application.

Donalco Western Inc. Safety Policy

The personal Health and Safety of each Donalco Western employee is of the utmost importance and is given priority over operating productivity. Our objective is a Health and Safety program that reduces illness and injuries with our ultimate goal being to maintain a Zero Tolerance Program.

Our Health and Safety Program involves:

  • Providing mechanical and physical safeguards

  • Training all employees in good health and safety practices

  • Ensuring all employees know of and follow safety procedures

  • Providing required personal protective equipment and instructions for use and care

  • Developing and enforcing health and safety rules and requiring that employees cooperate with the rules as a condition of employment.

  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses to identify causes and put corrective measures in place.

We recognize that the responsibilities for safety and health are shared:

  • The employer accepts the responsibility for leadership for the safety and health program, for its effectiveness and improvement.

  • Supervisors are responsible for developing the proper attitudes towards health and safety in themselves and those they supervise. Supervisors are also responsible for ensuring that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of those involved.

  • Employees and sub-contractors are responsible for wholehearted, genuine cooperation with all aspects of the health and safety program, including compliance with all the rules and regulations and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties.

Donalco Western has a Safety Program that meets or exceeds the requirements of Alberta OH&S (Alberta Labour) and WCB. We are registered members of WCB's 'Partners in Injury Reduction' program (PIR) and have held a 'Certificate of Recognition' (COR) since 1993. Donalco Western employs a full time Safety Officer and retains a professional Safety Consultant. Together they are responsible for maintaining our Safety Program on a daily basis and ensuring our employees have all the necessary training certificates required to operate in the field.
